Mola Lenghi is an American journalist and national correspondent currently working for ABC News, based in New York City. He joined ABC News in June 2022 after a five-year tenure at CBS News, where he reported across various platforms including CBS Mornings, CBS Evening News, and CBSN.
Early Life and Education
Born on June 15, 1984, in Fort Collins, Colorado, Lenghi was raised in Vienna, Virginia. He attended George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church and Langley High School in Great Falls. He later graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Journalism.
Career Highlights
Lenghi began his journalism career at WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, covering a range of stories including hurricanes, wildfires, and political scandals. He then moved to KXAS-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth, where he reported on significant events such as the 2011 World Series and the deadly fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas.
In 2013, he joined WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C., serving as a general assignment reporter. During his time there, he earned an Emmy Award in 2015 for his reporting on the disappearance of 8-year-old Relisha Rudd.
Lenghi joined CBS News in May 2017 as a correspondent for CBS Newspath. Lenghi is married to Joanie Vasiliadis, the Vice President of Digital Content at TEGNA. The couple tied the knot in January 2022.
