Ruby was raised in a Christian household as the fifth of six children. Her early years were marked by hardship, including the loss of her father at age 13. Her mother, Rose Ojiakor, supported the family through petty trading. Ruby completed her primary and secondary education in Port Harcourt before pursuing a degree in Theatre Arts at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu. She later fulfilled her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) obligations in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Ruby’s entry into the entertainment industry began with dance. Discovered by the late gospel singer Prince Chinedu Nwadike, she joined a dance group and featured in several gospel music videos. Her transition to acting occurred when she was hired as a choreographer for the film “Let’s Dance,” which led to her first acting role.
