Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori (born June 19, 1963) is a Nigerian politician and philanthropist, currently serving as the Governor of Delta State since May 29, 2023. He previously held the position of Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly from 2017 to 2023, representing the Okpe State Constituency under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Early Life & Education
Oborevwori was born in Osubi Town, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, to Chief Samuel and Mrs. Esther Oborevwori. He began his education at Alegbo Primary School in Effurun and completed his secondary education at Oghareki Grammar School, Oghareki. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, in 2004, and a Master’s degree in the same field from Delta State University, Abraka, in 2010.

Political Career
Oborevwori’s political journey began as a grassroots politician. In 1996, he was elected as a Councillor and appointed Supervisory Councillor for Works in Okpe Local Government Council. He also served as the pioneer Chairman of Osubi Community from 1996 to 2003.
His state-level political career commenced in 2015 when he was elected to the Delta State House of Assembly representing the Okpe Constituency under the PDP. He became Speaker of the House in 2017 following the impeachment of the former Speaker and was re-elected in 2019, making him the longest-serving Speaker in the state’s history.
In the 2023 gubernatorial elections, Oborevwori emerged victorious and was sworn in as the Governor of Delta State on May 29, 2023.

Governor Oborevwori has received several accolades for his contributions to governance and development, including:
- Legislative Icon Award by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in 2018.
- Governor of the Year Award for Fiscal Discipline and Infrastructural Development by THISDAY/ARISE Media Group in January 2025.
Philanthropy
Oborevwori is known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly through the Oborevwori Foundation Scholarship Scheme, which provides scholarships to indigent students. In 2018, he distributed empowerment items worth over ₦60 million to support petty traders, market women, and artisans in Okpe Local Government Area.
Personal Life
He is married to Evangelist Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, and they are blessed with children. Oborevwori is a devout Christian and serves as an ordained Elder in the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel).
