She hails from Ogbunike in the Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State and is one of six children born to Dennis and Ezenwanyi Joy Nonyelum Ikpelue.

Early Life and Education

Ezeonu completed her primary and secondary education in Owerri before pursuing a diploma in journalism at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in Lagos. She began her career as a journalist, working with Radio Lagos and Eko FM, where she honed her communication and storytelling skills.

Acting Career

In 1993, Ezeonu transitioned into acting, making her debut in the film Nneka the Pretty Serpent, directed by Zeb Ejiro, where she played Nkechi, the antagonist’s friend. The following year, she gained widespread recognition for her role as Thelma in Glamour Girls, a film that solidified her position in Nollywood. Over the years, she has featured in more than 200 films, including Shattered Mirror, Tears of a Prince, and Cry of a Virgin. In 2012, her performance in Adesuwa earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 8th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Ezeonu was married to Edwin Ezeonu, with whom she has four children: Ogechukwu Edwina, Chidera, Melveen, and a younger daughter. The couple separated in 2013, and their divorce was finalized on January 2, 2015. In 2012, she was honored with the chieftaincy title “Ada Ife” (Daughter of Light) by His Royal Highness C.F.N Ezerioha III in her hometown of Ihiteoweri, Imo State.
