He is the son of Eze Israel Okwu Kanu and Ugoeze Nnenne Kanu, both traditional leaders in their community. Nnamdi Kanu is best known as the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a movement advocating for the independence of Biafra from Nigeria. Before establishing IPOB, he was a director at Radio Biafra, a London-based radio station known for promoting Biafran awareness and political education among Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
